Panchak Dosha/ inauspicious Dosha period means a group of five constellations, that remains for five days. When the Moon is present in the last five constellations: Dhanista, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati, the last three signs, Panchak Dosha, occur.
Panchak Dosha remains for almost all five consecutive days.

Thus, we see that Panchak Dosha is an inauspicious Dosha, which begins with Dhanishtha Nakshatra (part of Makar Rashi). It remains in Nakshatras Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and ends with Revati, which is the last Nakshatra (Meen Rashi).
Out of these, the last two Charanas of Dhanishta Nakshatra are inauspicious Panchak (Nakshatra).

If inauspicious work is done during this period, it will be performed again and may be repeated up to five times more than the original one.
Prohibited activities during Panchak Dosha
According to the ancient text, the prohibited activities during Panchak are as follows:
One should avoid purchasing or making a bed or bedding, Griha Pravesh, starting rituals of marriage, purchasing or wearing new garments, and building the roof of a house.
Panchak is also an inauspicious period for travelling in the south direction or starting to restore fuel for the funeral of a dead body.
However, cremation can be done after doing some specifically prescribed rituals.

2. If Panchak begins on a Sunday, it is also bad and a kind of Roga Panchak (disease). This period is not good for health, and a person may suffer from prolonged illness.
Monday
3. If it begins on a Monday, it is an inauspicious Panchak and signifies Rajya (kingdom). All government-related matters or changes in jobs are avoided during this period.
Tuesday
4. In case Panchak begins on a Tuesday, this inauspicious Panchak is an Agni (fire) Panchak. In these circumstances, new construction, shifting to a new house, or machinery-related work should be avoided.
Friday
5. If Panchak begins on a Friday, it is also inauspicious, and it is Chor (theft) Panchak: travelling, and all kinds of business or financial activities should be avoided during this period of Panchak.
Note: One should avoid Revati Nakshatra for constructing a roof, as this is an inauspicious Panchak Dosha.
Effects of Panchak Dosha are nullified or minimised due to the following combinations:
If Panchak is in Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatra and falls on a Sunday, it is Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, which is Good for engagement or marriage. Panchak Dosha is minimised due to this auspicious Yoga.
But if all these last three Panchak Nakshatra: Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati fall on a Sunday, then a kind of auspicious Yoga is formed. As this is a significant combination, it gives success and prosperity to the natives.
Remedies for the five Nakshatra: Panchak/ inauspicious Dosha
According to an ancient text, one should recite the Gayatri Mantra and perform Havan or Homa before purchasing furniture. It is recommended to distribute sweets before starting the construction of the roof of a house.
People should recite Hanuman Chalisa and perform Hanuman Puja before starting a journey if it is necessary to do any of the above works.
In case the work is important, the prescribed rituals should be performed. One should take these precautions before starting a dead body’s funeral, as these are unavoidable circumstances.
