Dev Uthani Ekadashi is observed as the beginning of the wedding season and other auspicious ceremonies, with Lord Vishnu’s Awakening and marriage of Tulsi (Tulsi Vivah) with Saligram after the four month’s period of Chaturmas.
Parana is very important,which is performed on Dwadashi, the next day after the sunrise. Paran will begin on Tuesday, 20 November, 2018. Parana means breaking or ending of a fast.
What is Chaturmas ?
Chaturmas is the sacred sleeping period of Lord Vishnu in Yog-nindra, for the four months. This begins from eleventh Tithi of Ashadh Shukla Paksha, i.e. Dev Shayani Ekadashi, till the eleventh day of Kartik Shukla Paksha,i.e. Kartik Prabodhini Ekadashi.
Lord Vishnu sleeps on Shayani Ekadashi for four months, which is usually considered as the end of all the auspicious activities. People should avoid All the auspicious celebrations, such as Grah Pravesha(house warming ceremony) and Shubha Vivah Muhurat (wedding season) during Chaturmas.
