Dev Uthani Ekadashi, Kartik Prabodhini Ekadashi or Devutthana Ekadashi, also known as Hari Uthani Ekadashi, is considered most preferred day for marriage (Shubh Vivah Muhurat). This auspicious festival, Dev Uthani Ekadashi is celebrated during waxing Moon on Ekadashi,in the Shukla Paksha of the lunar month of Kartik.
Dev Uthani Gyaras or Dev Uthani Ekadashi Vrat falls on Monday, 19 November, 2018. Paran is very important, which is performed on the next day after the sunrise, Paran will begin on Tuesday on 20 November, 2018. Paran means breaking or ending of a fast.
This auspicious Tithi of Dev Uthani Ekadashi/ Prabodhini Ekadashi is celebrated on Ekadashi in the second fortnight of Kartik Chandra-maas (Kartik Shukla Paksha). This Tithi is also known as Hari Prabodhini Ekadashi. It is observed as the beginning of the wedding season for Hindus, with Lord Vishnu’s Awakening and marriage of Tulsi (Tulsi Vivah) with Saligram after the four month’s period of Chaturmas, the sleeping period of Lord Vishnu. It is believed Lord Vishnu sleeps on Shayani Ekadashi for four months, which is usually considered as the end of the wedding season.
